REMO operacional forecasting system comparison with observations along the Brazilian southeast coast

ABSTRACT
A 1/12º and a 1/24º operational regional application of HYCOM covering the METAREA V runs daily in the Brazilian Navy Hydrographic Center (CHM) to provide forecasts in support of naval operations, navigation safety and oil field operations in Campos and Santos basin. This system is part of REMO(Oceanographic Modeling and Observation Network), a Brazilian initiative in operational oceanography. This model setup and results from comparisons to observations taken from current meters installed in oil rigs are presented.
