NASA Ocean Vector Wind Science Team Meeting
Seattle, Washington, 19 - 21 November 2008
This meeting is open to the NASA OVWST as well as other interested parties. While the most prominent component of these meetings is often science results, we are also interested in operational activities, related engineering, scatterometry-related products, calibration/validation, and international collaborations. Attendees should complete the on-line Registration and those intereated in contributing a poster or oral presentation (limited) are asked to submit an abstract. The deadline for abstracts is 1 October 2008.

Objectives

  1. A statement of scientific benefits associated with XOVWM.
  2. Plans for ocean vector science in a post-QSCAT era.
    • Other scatterometer missions (status and prospects)
    • Data continuity - requirements from a variety of perspectives
    • Climate data sets for wind and stress
  3. Develop standards for vetting level 3 products
    • Find volunteers to work on vetting standards
    • Develop a plan for posting information that will help users of these products
    • What can be done to improve the ease of use and the likelihood that the products will be used for an appropriate application?
  4. Discuss new products (e.g., stress)
  5. Develop (if needed) an improved definition of equivalent neutral winds.
  6. Updates on the latest science and operational results

Note: The workshop organizers reserve the right to verify the credentials of any registrant.
