Results of the recent HYCOM North Atlantic 1/12-deg. simulations (NRL/U.Miami) are discussed. Among the 4 simulations discussed, the latest one (expt 11.8) shows better agreement in the deep western boundary transport with the observations by Schott et al. at 43N: decreasing viscosity, the deep transport concentrates towards the western boundary. During 1 year of the simulation, 3 to 4 North Brazil Current rings are generated, and 1 loop current ring is detached in the Gulf of Mexico.
