My main research interests are submesoscale dynamics, air-sea interaction, coastal dynamics, and machines learning applications in oceanography. I participated in a multi-institutional project of "Consortium for Simulation of Oil-Microbial Interactions in the Ocean (CSOMIO)," which aims at filling critical gaps in our ability to numerically model the transport and fate of oil in coastal waters. My current project focuses on feedback between submesoscale processes and air-sea interaction, instability processes in the ocean, and coastal circulation and its ecological importance. I investigate these problems by performing experiments with numerical ocean models (MITgcm, ROMS, and FVCOM). I am also interested in interdisciplinary applications of meteorology and physical oceanographic studies.
